Görlitz is known for its beautiful city center that has survived the Second World War with hardly any damage. The city center holds many architectural gems, from atmospheric medieval market squares to gorgeous Art Nouveau villas.

Right across the river lies the Polish city of Zgorzelec, until 1945 a district of Görlitz. Zgorzelec bears the traces of intense historic upheavals: It’s architectural landscape is interspersed with buildings of the communist era and historic townhouses of the “Gründerzeit” period alike.

Today the cities of Görlitz and Zgorzelec display their friendship and historic ties by uniting under the banner of “Europastadt”, a denomination indicating two cities with a common heritages spanning across the border.

Upon our arrival we´ll take a guided tour through the medieval city center of Görlitz. After lunch we’ll discover the Polish city of Zgorzelec, where we’ll also stop to have coffee and Polish sweets. Before going back to Berlin we’ll take a stroll through the traditional Christmas Market in Görlitz.  See more on this website
